Anticipation
for the KL International Gourmet Festival 2005 continues to rise as
the city’s hottest, most prestigious food and fine dining event
draws closer.
Every fine dining establishment taking part in this year’s Festival
is even now still coming up with more and more special offers to pamper,
tease and please the taste buds (and other senses) of Festival diners.
Whip out your schedule planners and mark November 11 to December 8
as a special period to abandon any form of dieting it is going
to be an utterly blissful 28 days for all diners!
At the Festival’s recent media launch, members of the media
got a sneak peek at the stars of KLIGF 2005, as all 23 Master Chefs
participating were unveiled. Among the many guests present at the
event was guest of honour Datuk Dr Victor Wee, the Secretary General
of the Ministry of Tourism who congratulated the organizer of KLIGF
and said how important this Festival is to the ministry’s strategy
of attracting more tourists to KL and Malaysia.
Unlike last year’s media launch that saw chefs dropping into
the venue via parachute, this year’s Master Chefs took a safer
route by arriving in style on an eye-catching luxury coach by Aeroline.
The coach bore giant images of the culinary stars as well as the logo
of this year’s title sponsor, VISA International.
The Chefs were delighted to pose around the sleek, magnificent Mercedes-Benz
CLS 350 that was put on display by Festival partner, Daimler Chrysler
Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. After all, those who can appreciate a fine meal
will naturally have an affinity for hot wheels.
Another exciting event that is not to be missed is the KL Epicure
International fair on November 12 and 13. Admission is free to the
fine dining public. KL Epicure International is where you can sample
and purchase anything and everything to do with fine dining. You can
also attend the very reasonably priced gourmet workshops, where you
can have tons of fun at the cooking classes with the country’s
top chefs. Participants can also pick up a few tricks and tips on
dining etiquette and dressing with style. In addition to the master
chefs’ classes there will be workshops to teach you the proper
way to appreciate; wine, coffee and cigars. Mixology is the final
area that the lifestyle experts will demonstrate, showing you how
to make the best cocktails and mocktails.
Those who await the start of the Festival with lip-smacking enthusiasm
need not worry; it won’t be long now! To borrow a phrase from
auto racing: “Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Appetites!”
